FOX-IN-THE-BORO - CALL TO ART
Are you crafty like a fox and would you like to decorate a larger-than-life fox sculpture?
Foxborough Cultural Council, a local town government agency, is organizing an outdoor art display of colorful foxes around our beloved uptown area
SUMMARY: Foxborough Cultural Council (FCC) invites local artists or art groups to apply. Selected artist(s) will adorn a 4 ft. fiberglass fox provided by FCC. As with the nationally popular “Cow Parade”, www.cowparade.com, the painted foxes will be displayed publicly throughout uptown Foxborough in prominent locations. Our goal is to promote the arts in our town with this inviting art walk. All ages in the community will delight in exploring each fox using beautifully designed maps where the artist(s) and sponsors will be recognized. This event is a fund raiser to support future artistic projects and events in the Foxborough community.
ARTIST COMPENSATION: Fox-In-The-Boro is funded in part through individual and corporate sponsorships, which help cover the cost of fox sculpture production, delivery to our town, as well as weatherproofing, plaques, promotion, and uptown installation. Thanks to our sponsors, we can offer a $500 honorarium to each selected artist/artist group to help offset art supply expenses. $250 will be paid when artists take possession of primed fox and the remaining $250 will be paid upon completion of painted fox by contractual completion date. As a work for hire, FCC will retain ownership of the artwork as well as the completed foxes. Foxes will be displayed with a plaque recognizing the artist/artist group and each sponsor. FCC will weatherproof each artistically altered fox with a clear coat at our own cost to help protect them while in their outdoor location.
HOW TO APPLY: Complete the application and illustrate your design concept using digital imagery or physically embellishing the paper fox. Indicate what materials you plan to use on large fox sculpture. It may be paint, mosaic, mirrors, collage, or fabric! We encourage artists to view the fox as a 3D canvas for their design concepts.
You may submit up to 5 fox proposals in your application. Please carefully consider the weather and other elements of nature, including sun, rain, wind, and dirt, as the foxes will be installed outside. Imagery that represents political views, religion, violence, business advertisement (such as logos) or indecent subject matter is not permitted on the design of the fox.
Fox proposals will be reviewed by the Foxborough Cultural Council and a select number will be chosen. Variations to the initial accepted proposal will require approval before proceeding.
Please illustrate your concept on the fox image provided in application below or download here. Paper copies of application and fox image will also be available to pick up in the lobbies of Foxborough Town Hall and Foxborough’s Boyden Library.
