On Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m., retired Northeastern professor Stanley Forman will present his program on how television was invented and the skullduggery between television entrepreneurs! CHRISTMAS TREE SHOP PRESENTATION
Historian and author Anthony Sammarco will be at the senior center on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. for his presentation on The Christmas Tree Shop. The Christmas Tree Shop was not just an icon of New England, it was a destination with stores that boasted a diverse assortment of merchandise from seasonal decorations, home décor, housewares, food, giftware and just about everything else that the public just had to have. These were items you never thought you needed before stepping through the door, but who could resist a bargain? Founded in 1970 in Yarmouth Port, it was “like walking into a closet full of surprise treasures.” One never knew what he might find, but the public, always on the hunt for bargains, began to find goods that not only pleased but stretched one’s budget. The word-of-mouth advertising attracted customers to Cape Cod, who returned time and again, never sure what they might find. This was what made the shop popular and was to create a sensation on Cape Cod. This presentation by Anthony will surely delight everyone who can remember the catchphrase “Don’t you just love a bargain?” Sign up in advance and we’ll save you a seat for this great presentation.

Thelma receives a call from a scammer claiming to be her grandson and, after falling victim to it, she takes matters into her own hands. A comedy-action movie based on the real-life experience of director Josh Margolin’s own grandmother, the film uses humor to address the global epidemic of scams. Online reviews give this film a new perfect score of 99%. Sign up in advance and we’ll save you a seat.

But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) plant to robe the McCallister residence and that he alone must protect the family home.
December 31 – “Home Alone 2” After snarky youth Kevin McCallister (Macauley Culkin) loses track of his father at the airport, he mistakenly gets on a plane headed for New York City – while the rest of the McCallisters fly to Florida. Now alone in the Big Apple, Kevin cons his way into a room at the Plaza Hotel and begins his usual antics.
