FEBRUARY MOVIE DAYS
The theme for February’s Movie Days is “Good Night and Good Luck.” The following movies will be shown at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday’s in February:
Feb. 10 – “Good Night and Good Luck” (2005) – Set in the early days of television journalism, this film follows Edward R. Murrow and his CBS News team as they challenge Senator Joseph McCarthy during the height of the Red Scare. Through tense broadcasts and quiet newsroom moments, the film explores courage, integrity, and the cost of speaking truth to power. Shot in stark black-and-white, it underscores how fragile democracy can be when fear dominates public life.
Feb. 22 – “Good Night and Good Luck: Live from Broadway” (2025) – this filmed stage adaptation captures the acclaimed theatrical retelling of Edward R. Murrow’s stand against Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare. Preserving the intimacy and intensity of live theater, the production blends period broadcasts, sharp dialogue, and minimal staging to spotlight the moral courage of journalists under pressure. The result is a timely, stripped-down meditation on truth, power, and the responsibility of a free press, presented for a global streaming audience.
