Foxborough to receive $959,752 in federal funding for Walnut Street Sewer Project
This month, Congress passed a partial government funding bill that was signed by President Biden and includes key wins for the Fourth District. The bill provides funding for 15 Community Project Funding (CPF) requests sponsored by Congressman Auchincloss, including $959,752 for the Walnut Street sewer project in Foxborough.
“Clean drinking water & better bridges have been my priority for three funding cycles,” said Auchincloss. “These projects take time – they’re not quick & flashy – but the benefits will extend for a generation.”
This funding will be used to support the senior affordable housing project being built on town Housing Authority property on Walnut Street. This project will ultimately include 200 units in three buildings.
In addition, some $4 million in state MassWorks funding is being used to support infrastructure improvements to move the development along. They include the sewer line and two new traffic signals: one at the intersection of Walnut Street and Commercial Street, and another at the off-ramp of Interstate 95 onto Commercial Street.
“The cost of housing is the Bay State’s biggest challenge. This water infrastructure funding directly supports the development of affordable housing, to offer more options for young families & seniors,” said Auchincloss.
"We expect construction on both the housing development and infrastructure to begin this spring," Town Manager Paige Duncan said.
