Foxborough to Purchase Church
Posted on 03/19/2024

Foxborough is excited to announce their offer to purchase the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints property, located at 76 Main Street, has been accepted.

Following its listing on the open market earlier this year, the town engaged in several weeks of negotiations culminating an agreement to purchase of this landmark building, along with 3.65 acres of land, for $2.5 million.

Upon confirming the news, Foxborough Town Manager Paige Duncan said, "We are thrilled to share news of our agreement to acquire the former church at 76 Main Street, paving the way for the future Town of Foxborough Community Center. This purchase not only signifies a new chapter for this historic space but also reflects our commitment to creating a vibrant multi-generational center that will serve as a hub for learning, recreation, and connection for all members of our community. We look forward to transforming this space into a place where countless new memories will be created, friendships are forged, and the spirit of togetherness thrives."

The expansive 17,000 square foot facility will serve as the new headquarters for vital community services, housing the Recreation Department, the Council on Aging, and Veteran's Services. The scenic surroundings feature beautiful nature trails, and with multiple program rooms, offices, a performance hall, and a small gymnasium, the property offers ample space to accommodate growing community needs.

Residents will have the opportunity to cast their votes to finance the purchase via ballot on May 6th, with final approval sought at the Town Meeting on May 13th. Pending town voter acceptance, the anticipated closing date is August 1st, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Foxborough.

Upon final purchase, initial plans for revitalization include aesthetic enhancements, essential repairs, and the installation of a new elevator to ensure accessibility for all members of our community.

This acquisition represents a significant investment in our town's future, furthering our commitment to providing exceptio
nal facilities and services for residents of all ages. We look forward to the continued support and engagement of our community as we embark on this transformative journey together!
