Latest Update:
As of September 1, 2025:
The Chestnut Street Water Treatment Plant on Pumping Station Road is getting a big upgrade! The town is adding a new filtration system called Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). This system will work alongside the one already in place to better remove PFAS (a group of chemicals sometimes called “forever chemicals”). With this upgrade, we’ll be able to provide cleaner, safer drinking water for our community.
The building itself is mostly done, but crews are still hard at work inside. They need to install piping, tanks, and mechanical equipment before the plant is fully ready. The project is expected to wrap up by late spring of 2026.
