PFAS Information:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large of group contaminants which are commonly referred to as "forever chemicals". Increasing concern around the potential long term health impacts from consumption of these chemicals have motivated federal and state agencies to develop new minimum control standards for public water supplies. Foxborough water is below the current MassDEP threshold of 20 parts per trillion. However, EPA is in the process of establishing a new minimum standard of 4 parts per trillion with a target of 0 parts per trillion which will require the Town to construct additional treatment facilities for removal.
