Foxborough Fire & Rescue achieves Internationally Accredited Agency Status
After a lengthy 3.5 year process, Foxborough Fire & Rescue has become the 1st municipal agency in MA (and only the 3rd in New England) to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI's voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. This is a hard-earned and prestigious status, as only about 305 exist. Foxborough Fire & Rescue is now 1 of 123 in the entire US that are rated ISO 1 and Nationally Accredited.
Accreditation Process:
The self-assessment program required the fire department to complete a community-driven strategic plan, a comprehensive community risk assessment, and an adopted standard of cover. These components allowed staff to respond to 250 individual performance indicators, covering all aspects of the fire department - everything from legal standing to field operations was appraised.
Once this self-assessment was complete, a team of four peer assessors from around the country visited the town and verified the steps taken. This team prepared an in-depth report of their findings for review by the Commission of Fire Accreditation International. The Commission then met with our fire department representatives in Florida, where they were asked interviewed and questioned to validate their responses.
The Commission then voted unanimously to bestow Foxborough Fire & Rescue with Internationally Accredited Status.
Congratulations to Chief Kelleher, Asst. Chief Buckley, and all of the 2252 members involved in this endeavor!
