Foxborough Awarded $500,000 Complete Streets Grant for Intersection Improvements

Foxborough, MA — The Town of Foxborough has been awarded $500,000, the maximum available under this grant program, through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s (MassDOT) Complete Streets Funding Program. The funding will support safety and accessibility improvements at the South Street (Route 106)/Green Street/Cedar Street intersection.

The project will realign the intersection to replace the current layout with two offset “T” intersections. Improvements will also include new sidewalks and curbing, crosswalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB), and updated pavement markings. These upgrades are designed to make the intersection safer while improving traffic flow, pedestrian access, and overall connectivity for all roadway users.

“This is an exciting investment in the future of Foxborough’s transportation network,” said Department of Public Works Director Chris Gallagher. “The improvements at South Street, and Route 106 (Green Street and Cedar Street) will make this area safer and more accessible for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike.”

The Notice to Proceed is expected by December 1, 2025, with the project scheduled to go out to bid in early 2026 and construction anticipated to begin in the spring.

“This project reflects our commitment to creating safe, accessible, and connected streets in Foxborough,” said Town Manager Paige Duncan. “We are thankful to DPW Director Chris Gallagher and his team for prioritizing this challenging intersection, and we are grateful to MassDOT for their partnership and support in funding these much-needed improvements.”
